Blue Surface

You may wonder what this is. Perhaps hard to tell but it's a close up of a very old radiator which was painted blue. You can nicely see the cracks in the layers of paint. It's amazing what a macro lens can reveal. Especially if you see this object almost daily.

I made this image for the Macroday theme Blue.

TECH-INFO: The light source was a big pre-built softbox of size 1x1m. Actuallly it was just the window near this radiator which passed indirect sun light. I tried several shots (in RAW) but this one was the most intriguing. The originally blue colored paint was looking very faded so I used several layers to refresh the blue color of its early days. With self painted masked curves tool layers in soft light and screen blending mode I slightly enhanced the cracks in the paint. Finally some vignetting is added.

UPDATE: submitted on JPG Magazine for the theme Color Theory.
