Pole Pole Festival Zeebrugge #1

This weekend it was the big Pole Pole event on the beach of Zeebrugge, Belgium. Always spectacular to see. I went on the roof of the apartment with my tripod to take a few shots.

TECH-INFO: The key was to shoot at the right moment, while the lights are on and the sky is still pretty bright to provide enough ambient light. This periods lasts for less than 20 minutes. After that it's too dark. 5 RAW shots, each a stop difference to compose a HDR image (using DxO Optics Pro for RAW conversion, Photoshop for HDR merging and Photomatix Pro for HDR tone-mapping).
After tone-mapping, I cropped the image and worked on the contrasts in Photoshop. The result got a bit too noisy but Noise Ninja helped me to clean it up.

It's great Paul. And again thanks for the tech-info.. I'm soo making notes smile
Fascinating tech info, Paul, but for me there's something lacking - or perhaps it's just that those boxes in the foreground are too dominant?
Mmmm, I'm not a fan of this HDR style... Everyone has different tastes! wink

I particularly love the transition from the real world boxes foreground towards the slightly surrealistic rear scene.
