photoblog image Panoramic view of Budapest

Panoramic view of Budapest

My First real panoramic image :-) A view of Budapest. At the left a part of Buda but in front of you Pest.

TECH-INFO: I shot 13 images hand-held. I tried to keep everything as steady as possible. First I converted the RAW files to 16 bit TIFF files, using DxO Optics Pro. The latter took care of vignetting and all kinds of lens distortions. Photoshop did the magic of merging everything. A 64 bit machine with 6 GB of RAM and 8 cores made the job faster. After the stitch and some cropping I got a 60 megapixel image (24000 x 2500). I was necessary to resize it before uploading to the Shutterchance server. The saved PSD is almost 900 MB. It's really huge (I'm not used to it).
In Photoshop I made the clouds more dramatic and the colors with brightness of buildings stronger. All of this is done using a couple of masked adjustment layers.

I have not succeeded yet...stitching is not a friend of mine I guess!
Nicely done Paul!
13 handhelds? Amazing it turned out so well!!!
LightningPaul: I'm also glad. Mostly thanks to a steady hand and Photoshop.
Well done indeed Paul. This is quite impressive!
Amazing, Paul - I can't imagine trying to stitch 13 images! I'd love to see a 3 meter long print of it!
LightningPaul: Thanks Tom. I was a bit surprised myself. I love to print it, any idea how and where I could do that. If you fund it you may have it smile
Nice result, the thought of creating this sounds scary to me.
