Images of Water Theme (1 of 4)

This years competition theme of the photography club called Blandia is water. Each member got the change to show maximum five pictures regarding the theme. This one is a collection of water drops placed on a compact disc. Such a CD, which you get for free in almost every computer related magazine, yields nice and different colors. I think I'll try to do more experiments in the future because I'm sure I can get more out of that.

TECH-INFO: I used a 35mm macro lens to go as close as possible. The main light was my window of the living room. A tripod made sure I could use a small aperture and longer shutter speed. Besides the removal of a few dust spots (you see everything on a CD surface), contrast and slight color enhancements, and some slight cropping, nothing is altered.

Nice abstract! I miss some sharpness though, and I have artefacts going on, result of compression?
LightningPaul: Thanks Marion. I focused on the edges of the drops (only a cm away of the lens) and on the CD plate to get them in focus and they actually are. But the reflections in the drops are meters away so they are indeed not in focus. You may experience artifacts but they are reflections and scratches of the disc in combination of the water drops. I get the same effect when opening my image in Photoshop. The bottom of the disc contains some noise, amplified during sharpening and mainly color boosting. I'll try to avoid this in the future.
Clever idea, Paul - I'll have to try it out smile
LightningPaul: I'm waiting for your result smile
Simply superb!
I'd give it a likey.
LightningPaul: Thanks a lot smile
Great shot, Paul: I've seen this done before, but this is better!smile
