photoblog image Empty Tracks

Empty Tracks

Shot on a early cold winter day at a bridge near a railway in Poland. The sun was just awake providing still shallow and contrast flat light.

TECH-INFO: one RAW file, developed with ACR. Mainly contrast enhancements, converted into black & white. I simulated dodging and burning by painting on masked adjustments layers which are in multiply, screen and soft light blending modes. The hardest part is to know on which parts of the image you have to paint.

Excellent lines, graphism and b/w.
LightningPaul: Many thanks smile
Railway tracks make for great pictures and this one is excellent Paul.
LightningPaul: I think I'll start focusing on them more within a year.
Poles and cables ... Looks like the interior of one of the hosiery factories that were still prolific in 60's Leicester.

Excellent structural image Paul, and you have done a terrific tonal job.

So fashinating black&white shot Paul!

Merry Christmas smile
LightningPaul: Many thanks Simone smile
I like all the lines and patterns in this shot Paul, in colour it might not have been so good IMHO.
LightningPaul: I agree, the colors were a bit dull. Even enhancing them didn't yield anything nice. B/W + enhancing contrasts did the trick here.
Your black and white processing is very impressive as well
LightningPaul: Many thanks for your comment, I appreciate it. I'm still working a lot on my processing skills. The "How to do it" is becoming very familiar, just seeing "Where and When to do it" is still not easy. Though I'm having lots of fun.
