photoblog image Abandoned - Closed Door

Abandoned - Closed Door

A totally closed door of another partly hidden red brick factory. The bricks are under a layer which is starting to peel off. The door was very intriguing. I could not open it. This is also shot In Zyrardow, Poland, where they used to have many factories, mostly build of red bricks, to produced the finest quality linen. See my Abandoned Series for more.

TECH-INFO: using a tripod, cable release and a bubble level I took 9 shots with each a stop difference, to make sure I got all the details. After corrections in DxO Optics Pro, I converted them into a HDR file and tone mapped it to get the highest amount of detail. Therefore in Photomatrix I have put the strength and micro-contrast sliders on maximum. Afterwards I further enhanced details, colors and contrast in Photoshop using a bunch of masked adjustment layers. Also vignetting is added. Please let me know what you think of it.

I like what you've done with the HDR here. The colour has a certain quality to it.
LightningPaul: Thanks! I'm trying to stay in this style.

Superb Paul, love the tones and sharpness of the image, it looks like you can touch it and feel the coarseness of the wall
LightningPaul: Wow, many thanks for your comments. I'm happy I achieved this level.

You couldn't get in, because you forgot to knock, Paul. LOL
I'm puzzled by the location of the door. They had to cut half of the pilaster off. Looks like an ooops moment for an architect. smile
There is so much to enjoy here. A total visual feast, Paul.
LightningPaul: Many thanks for your comment. Indeed, I forgot to knock. Perhaps the door was just open.
I think they had lots of ooops moments two hundred years ago smile
I like what you have done Paul.
LightningPaul: Thanks Micheal!
I love this crop, and the subject... makes me wonder what is behind the doors
LightningPaul: I'm wondering too what's behind this door. I'll try to go back to this place at the end of the year.
Very impresssive, I see a face in the door! smile
LightningPaul: Hey, I'm glad you see it too.
Excellent level of detail. First thing I saw was the face too ;-)
LightningPaul: Thanks Mark, I'm glad you notice the face too.
A great door Paul, and I do like the way you have processed this one.
LightningPaul: Many thanks smile

Yep the micro-contrast sometimes miraculously helps to reveal high level of details. Just WOW, great finding. Without photo description, I thought it was a topless bar.
LightningPaul: "topless bar" :-D Perhaps, I didn't (try to) open the door. Will be for next time. This micro-contrast slider is indeed a magical tool. I love both +10 and -10; something in between might be fine too of course.
