photoblog image A Bridge in Delft

A Bridge in Delft

Made in the late evening in Delft, Holland. This town is very romantic because of the many little canals and old buildings. It's a little bit like Amsterdam but much smaller.

TECH-INFO: shooting at night mostly means: areas of very low light (hence longer exposures) and areas of strong light (due to the light sources which are in the frame). In short: very high contrasts. To overcome this I used a tripod (of course) and captured seven exposures of each a stop difference. As always I corrected lens distortions in DxO Optics Pro. Instead of merging the pictures into a HDR file I used the exposure blending option in Photomatrix Pro which yields a very natural looking result.
Afterwards in Photoshop I corrected the perspective using the free transform tool and a few masked adjustment layers to enhance certain parts a bit more, like the doors, windows and white railing. Finally I added some corner vignetting.

EXTRA: click here to compare with the middle exposure of the seven captures. This link will be removed after a while.
