photoblog image Three Metallic Towers

Three Metallic Towers

Shot at an industrial place where photographers are not allowed. I can't tell about the location because the security busted me. I really like such metallic industrial beauty. At the moment of shooting the sun was already asleep for about half an hour. So the light was nicely blue and cold.

TECH-INFO: I didn't want too much bue so I have set my white balance on cloudy. I mostly like some warmth. Three JPGs were made with each a stop difference. First I used DxO Optics Pro for lens corrections, afterwards I aligned and merged them into a HDR file with Photoshop. Aligning was still necessary despites I used a tripod. When using (very) long focal lenses I find that sometimes multiple shots are not always perfectly aligned. Even if each image is sharp on its own.
In Photomatrix I tone mapped the HDR 32-bit file to a LDR 16-bit TIFF file. Finally in Photoshop I enhanced the contrast of several parts. Also a rectangular vignette is added. I know that the latter is very trendy but I like the mood I get from adding some vignetting.

I do like these type of industrial scene Paul. this one works well with the detail on the towers and the vignetting.
LightningPaul: Thanks! I'm happy you also like such scenes.
I like it, a little other worldly.
LightningPaul: Thanks Nigel. The after-sunset-light makes it not a night image but still something different.

Nice work Paul, but why was it illegal to shoot at an industrial site
LightningPaul: Some parts are private roads. Only people of the company may access them. I think they are afraid of industrial espionage.
the lines are almost dancing on my screen
LightningPaul: Cool smile
This metal soft blue is amazing, very nice processing and captured, worth being busted for this?
It was worth getting busted for!
LightningPaul: I'm very glad to hear that smile
An excellent shot Paul but don't go landing in jail!
LightningPaul: In Belgium the jails are full. You need to get 3 or more years before they really put you into jail. Anyway, I'll be careful because updating my blog for 3 or more years would be terrible.
Superb shot, love the tones and details.

Come on give it up, we can keep a secret. Where is this place we are not allowed to photograph smile
LightningPaul: If you come over to Belgium I'll show the place. Then both of use can be busted :-D

Rob
LightningPaul: Thank you Rob! Well I'm sure those security guys won't find my photo blog and even if they did, they might not recognize it.
Great capture Paul, at least you managed to keep your images. Fantastic clarity and details in this shot. The lines and tones are so very captivating, excellent job on this image.
LightningPaul: Thanks a lot John. I think this is one of the better images I made.

Awesome result this silos. And the monochrome color fully amazing. Be denied access is proper to the photographers... and paparazzi.
LightningPaul: Thank you for your comment.
Terrific. Love the almost monochromatic pallet with a slight blue tone in the metal. The coal or whatever that is anchors the composition really well. Nicely done.
LightningPaul: Thanks Dustin for your comment.
