photoblog image Buildings in Central Warsaw

Buildings in Central Warsaw

It has been a while since I posted a night image. Though this one is more a kind of late in the afternoon picture. It was shot at 16h42 but in the Winter, a day before New Year Eve. This place is in the center of Warsaw, Poland, close to the Palace of Culture and Science. Personally I really adore urban night shots. They mostly look very fascinating.

UPDATED: submitted for VFXY theme Night.

TECH-INFO: 9 shots of each a stop difference. Of course I used a tripod because the longest exposure was 6 seconds. I choose an ISO400 because there was little time and people were passing in front of me, so I had to hurry up. An ISO100 (or 200) would have introduced less noise but then the exposure times would have been too long. Despites everything the noise is still within an acceptable range.
The shot pictures got lens corrections in DxO Optics Pro, then got merged into one HDR file using Photoshop and tone mapped in Photomatrix Pro which resulted in one TIFF file. Finally I used several masked adjustment layers in Photoshop to boost/enhance contrasts and colors of several parts of the image.

I tried to keep it pretty real while still having it very lively. Besides the bit (too) greenish looking buildings, which I only noticed after uploading the image, I think I succeeded pretty well. Feel free to share your thoughts.

I absolutely love this. You Tech-info exlains a lot and its good. It must have been a cold, moist evening.
LightningPaul: Thanks! It was not too cold that day, probably a few degrees below zero. Though I was wearing multiple layers, a had, hand gloves, scarf, ...
Wow, great work! A beautiful night mood with all these lights. Well done Paul.
LightningPaul: Thank you Giorgio for your comment. I love those lights too. I don't live in a big city, so all those lights and buildings are very fascination for me.

Love your HDR images Paul and this is no exception
LightningPaul: I'm very happy to hear this smile I try to avoid the so called "overdone HDR-look" and choose a more natural but still punchy look.
great night shot
LightningPaul: Thanks Chantal, I love night shots. I should try to go out more at night to shoot.
I also like nightshots. This one is pretty good considering the making of it.
LightningPaul: Thanks Delia.

Very nice picture.
I like Warsaw in the winter time. Even it's cold outside you do not feel it at all. This city never sleeps (like NYC but it's a little bit smaller ;-)
LightningPaul: Thank you Ania smile
awesome stuff for sure
We will do a series here in Perth Soon
Cheers
Rob
LightningPaul: Thanks Rob. I'm looking forward to the Perth Soon series.

Excellent job here. I like the smooth light and sharp details viewable. It appears it's a foggy day. Bravo.
LightningPaul: Indeed, the little bit of fog makes the light scatter all around, which I really love.
