The posing Monkey
Last week I visited the
Apenheul in Holland, in the city Apeldoorn. A really great place! It's a zoo but only for monkeys. They have more than two dozen different species. One of them is the Barbary Macaque, a monkey living in the Atlas mountains and the rock of Gilbraltar. On the picture above you see one posing.
TECH-INFO: since I was on vacation, I took mainly JPGs shots because they are for my family and me. I try to shoot them well exposed. So no need to spend many hours on converting and tweaking RAW files. I just use DxO Optics Pro to do some lens corrections, cropping, local contrast adjusting and some sharpening. That way, each picture takes me less than a minute.
But for my photo blog I gave this image an extra treatment in Photoshop to make the monkey stand out more. Using masked adjustment layers like the curves and brightness/control tools I darkened the background and made the head and eyes of the monkey a bit brighter. Finally some vignetting is added.
Another option was also to stand back and use a higher focal length but it was too crowdy to do that.
