Durbuy, the smallest city in the Europe and probably in the world. It's nicely hidden in a valley. On the mountains you have great overview over Topiaires park and part of the city.
TECH-INFO: I took 5 JPG pictures on a tripod. I merged them into a HDR file with Photomatrix, tone mapped them straight into a black and white image. Due to the multiple exposures and a walking in the middle of the frame I had ghosting, so I cloned it away in Photoshop Elements.

This looks like a very detailed pencil drawing Paul and I really like it.
LightningPaul: Hmmm, probably due to the tone mapping. Actually painters use the same technique I think, they also need to map a huge dynamic range of contrast of a real scene onto paper or canvas. Thanks for you comment, it gave me some new insight.
Really sharp with loads and loads of detail! Looks a stunning place.
I fpushed for c&c I would have liked to have seen a little more of a boost to the blacks, but then I quite like a nice dark shadow
LightningPaul: Regarding pushing the c&c, on my calibrated screen it looks excellent (to me) with lots of very visible details in the darker parts, but on my wifes uncalibrated screen the image looks rather flat. Normally I like to add more contrast but I had the feeling this image deserves to have a less dramatic mood. Anyway I appreciate your feedback a lot. It makes me thinking more about my images and how to get them better. Thanks.
Technical skills way beyond my comprehension, and a superb finished work
LightningPaul: Onces I had the same but gradually I rolled into more advanced stuff. The nice thing: there is no rush to dive into more technical skills, only when we are ready for that. Thanks for visiting.
I love this little village. especially its famous labyrinthe! (very nice in b&w)
LightningPaul: I was not aware of a labyrinthe, only Topiaires, lots of sport activities, very cosy, many kinds of jam and they have bakery selling superb bread. Thanks for mentioning, I should visit it next time.
Wonderful scene, another cut would be to leave the houses in the lower third of the picture and have about two thirds of the dramatic sky.
LightningPaul: This would be a very good idea. If you forget about "the city Durbuy" then I think it would make the image better. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
I can assure you there are smaller towns in Texas, haha. But none of them are this elegant.
I love the detail and the way you framed it. I'd kind of like to see more true black, but then you'd loose at least a little of that detail so I don't know.
I didn't know you could shoot in JPG and get such a good end result.
LightningPaul: "Smaller towns in Texas" => I fully agree, but smaller cities? It got the rank "city" in 1331 because it was such an important place at that time.
About the blacks: it was balancing between "more black" and "preserving details". I gave it in favor of the latter.
If you cover the dynamic range of light and set the WB correct than JPG do contain enough info to make an excellent HDR file.
