photoblog image Windy Weather in Zeebrugge - Dunes

Windy Weather in Zeebrugge - Dunes

From time to time it gets very windy in Zeebrugge, just like you see here. The wind nicely shapes the dunes and the sand. In the background you see cranes of the port. They use them to unload big container ships. Many of them come from China. 8000 containers is standard.

TECH-INFO: I wanted to capture some motion of the dunes and the sand which gets blown away. After some experimentation a shutter speed of 1/30s worked out fine. An aperture of f/11.0 was nice compromise between a larger DOF and having good sharpness of the lens. But perhaps f/16.0 and ISO200 would have been even better. The focal length of 200mm compresses port and the dunes together.
I processed the image in DxO Optics Pro but I don't remember what I did exactly. Probably tweaking the vibrance, maybe the hue and for sure the curves.

Unfortunately your image server is very slow this morning. This is an awesome shot. There's quite a bit of movement implied. I also love how the background is seen in the photo.
LightningPaul: Sometimes Shutterchance can be be slow, perhaps due to too much traffic or maintenance. I have no control about it, sorry.
I'm glad you like the image a lot. Thanks for commenting.

Wow! We can see the wind movement on this picture! And the brownish color domination adds a great ambiance. Post-industrial period, where the nature retake loosen place! Thank.
LightningPaul: Many thanks for your comment. It's indeed like that. Near the beach and dunes is the port.

A wonderfully luminous image--the brown tones really do it justice.
LightningPaul: Many thanks for your visit Larry.
