When you visit some place, always look above you. You might see something worthwhile. This is shot at the basement floor of a castle in the forest called Tillegem bos, close to Brugge.
TECH-INFO: I used my speedlight flash off camera by putting it on a table at the left. The walls and ceiling were all white. The flash is pointed to the wall to diffuse the light and make it soft. White balance is set on daylight which makes the light of the bulbs pretty red. The flash is covered with a CTB gel, that is some blue plastic foil, to get this nice cold background color. Afterwards I run it through Photomatrix to enhance the textures and I finished it with a contrast boost in DxO Optics Pro. Except for the stronger local and global contrasts, this pictures is very similar to the original one which came out of the camera.

Great. The hard part is seeing that view. Wonderful colors.
LightningPaul: I agree, not always easy to see other things. Especially the people near me didn't understand at all why I was shooting the lamps. But know I care less about that than a while ago.
Really great detail and colour. At first I thought it was taken above some kind of streetlight looking at the ground. As you say, sometimes it pays to look in directions we normally miss.
LightningPaul: Thank you Jim for your comment and visits.
At first, I made some pictures without the blue gel, but this one is cooler.
