photoblog image Chapeau Noir

Chapeau Noir

An image made for the VFXY theme Shadows. I came up with the idea of using the Film Noir style, here a nice lady putting on a sexy hat. Enjoy the look.

TECH-INFO: a manual adjusted speedlight flash, mounted on a light stand and pointed to a white wall where I projected the shadow of the girl with the hat. I placed a grid on the flash to create the vignetting effect. During post processing I only boosted the contrast and added a bunch of film grain. Finally cropped to four thirds format.

UPDATE: this one fits also on Vazaar for the topic Light and Shadows. And also submitted for Black & White theme on Shutterday.

I think I know this person ;-)
Nice work Paul, I really should do these VFXY challenges
LightningPaul: Please participate too. They are fun and very challenging (at least for me). I think you have the tools and experience to excel in the themes.
Excellent picture Paul. I so rarely get round to looking on VFXY that I forget about the challenges most times!
LightningPaul: Nice to hear that Bill. You can let VFXY to send a weekly email announcing the new theme. Might be very handy. You have a great collection of images so highly probably you'll find almost every week an image for the theme.

That's good, eye-catching too.

I sometimes find the vfxy themes difficult, mainly because I suddenly have to scurry around to find something new - then need to find a way to upload it in a hurry when I might already have queued pictures for my site here.
LightningPaul: Glad to hear you like it Ellie.

To me the VFXY themes are also not easy. I'm thinking the whole Friday and even the weekend to create of find something good. But afterwards I'm extremely happy when the image is ready to upload. And it's especially rewarding to get such great comments.

I like.
LightningPaul: Thanks NaCha!
We like the noise in this image - it creates an atmosphere of an old time show, almost as you can hear the music in the background!
Nice!!
LightningPaul: Wow, great to hear that! Thanks for stopping by.
