The lightning hit so close that the house and the place around got nicely lit. It was a thrilling Unfortunately I used a very crappy tripod which was meant for the trash bin. Despites having a new sturdy tripod, I still use the old one as a back up light stand.
I'm waiting for another night full of thunder and lightning. Perhaps it will happen again this summer.

Very good catch, a bit dangerous though, ain't it?. Your pictures don't show up on shutterchance "all photoblogs" page, I wonder whether this happens only on my computer.
LightningPaul: This one was indeed pretty scary and loud because the thunder and lightning were almost simultaneously. Last night at 2h00 we had another thunderstorm, so as soon I got awake I started shooting again. Unfortunately I didn't capture anything really worthwhile. Right now there is a new one coming. We'll see...
Regarding the "all photoblogs" page, where is it exactly? I don't see any link on www.shutterchance.com. Perhaps I'm missing something?
Amazing capture and welcome to shutterchance, I'm guessing either you move very quickly or this is why your called lightning paul?
LightningPaul: BOTH ;-)
I was always fascinated by lightning and electricity as a kid. I had some other nick names but they were all taken. "Lightningpaul" did not yet exist in the context of photography.
