Guitar Solo in the Air
Part of the first photo shoots made with my very first digital camera during a rehearsal of my former punk rock band. Oh boy, we had lots of fun.
Luckily we got a place to play from someone dealing in antique. We really appreciated that. Many music bands had no place to practice.
I made this one in the summer of 2002 so I could post it in 2009 for the VFXY theme
Musical.
CAMERA-INFO: I used a Fujifilm iX-1, a very small and light weight camera which I got of my friends. Very handy because everything was fully automatic. You only have to press the shutter at the right time . A counter on top shows how many images you still can take.
The images are all 0.3 megapixel (640 x 480) which results in JPGs of only 99kB. There is no need for a memory card, it has an internal of 8MB. Just like the newest DLSRs, small video clips can be made, though not in HD format (only 320 x 240).
White balance and lighting is fully automatic. The camera automatically adds lots of digital chroma noise which gives the images a kind of nostalgic mood. The sharpness is adjusted to simulate a pinhole camera. Everything further than 50cm is within the DOF.
No zoom lens, only a fixed plastic prime lens of 6.0mm. When connected to your PC it turns into a webcam. Despites its advanced automatic technology, I used it only one month and a half. The camera is also known under the brand name Axia.
This compact camera is even listed on
dpreview and
dcviews. Does anyone of you have this camera too?
TECH-INFO: not much had to be altered because of the super advanced in-camera-processing technology, only a very slight change using the curves tool and a small rectangular vignette is added to enhance the mood a bit more. Finally I had to up-size it to 700 pixels for posting on Shutterchance server.
looks punk alright!!
